Fish Wall Art with a surreal twist. Our feelings are mixed after we observe this work for a moment or two. What first seems to be a fun whimsical image of a giddy child flying a novelty balloon across a beautiful blue sky with fluffy clouds in a surreal aesthetic soon transpires to be something else. The balloon isn’t a balloon at all but a quite realistic looking fish with a painful hook through its mouth attached to a line held by the young girl. This fish is a Carp, a popular fish to be fished for hobbies and leisure, their ability to grow to great sizes and provide challenging reeling fights makes them an extremely rewarding catch for the hobbyist. We remain in doubt about how we should feel about this imagery, however a statement is being made here beneath the light hearted aesthetic. A real surreal visual art print mixing metaphors and playfulness.
Himitsuhana started research in photography in 2007. She investigates the inner relation between photography and painting, and takes inspiration from the Pre-Raphaelites painters and Liberty style. She has worked as designer for storybooks, fashion and entertainment sectors. "I believe that photography is more than technique, it is more than having an expensive equipment. I am deeply convinced that photography (the way it means to me) is not the camera, it is the eye that stands behind the camera. My aim is to portray every single glance of the human soul and encourage people to dream and never stop believing in dreams."
