Richard III Round Rug by Helen Hooper
Mineheart has collaborated with interior designer Helen Hooper to create a collection of dramatic new rugs inspired by Shakespearian quotations. Originally designed by Helen Hooper for the interior scheme of the Mercure hotel in Leicester, the rugs were such a success that Mineheart is adding them to their range this year which is the anniversary of Shakespeare’s death 400 years ago in 1416. Two of the designs are linked to Richard III, the king who in August 1485 was killed at the Battle of Bosworth and was buried at a Friary in Leicester until August 2012 when an archeological dig discovered his remains underneath a car park and he was reinterred in Leicester Cathedral. This romantic story captured the headlines and totally captivated the public.
Helen has chosen extracts from two well known monologues from Shakespeare’s Richard III, including parts of thefamous ‘Now is the Winter of Our Discontent’ speech, to be woven into the rugs which both have a deep purple background. The third rug in the collection is a twist on the Mineheart's Concrete Damask pattern which is reworked in pale purple. The collaboration is just one example of how Mineheart can produce bespoke items for design professionals looking for some of the signature Mineheart eccentricity specified to fit a particular space.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE:
Cleaning : We recommend using a vacuum cleaner to treat the carpet surface regularly. If dirt is left on the carpet, use special cleaning powder or consult your local cleaning company. Because the bottom is a cotton cloth, it is not recommended to wash in the washing machine to avoid shrinkage of the cotton cloth.
