Studio Diff was founded in 2015 in Kyiv in Ukraine and in a very short time Diff studio has gained international attention in the design world both on and off line. The success of the studio lies in their ability to create stunningly unique spaces with a distinctive character that combine aesthetics and functionality, with flawless execution. They have worked on many high-end interior projects internationally including residential and public spaces.

What’s the best thing about your job?

Our job is exciting and diverse and since the majority of our projects are located abroad, we have the opportunity to travel a lot, feel the culture of different countries and communicate with customers of different mentalities. We also explore the foreign markets and technology of specific places. We are constantly evolving with it.

What brands did you use in this featured project "House in Lithuania"?

We used the following furniture brands: SE Collections, Arflex, B&B Italia, and lighting brands Flos and Circalighting to name a few.

How would you describe the look and feel of this project?

The interior reflects the unique character of home owners. Natural materials such as wood carved wall panels, marble and some small pieces of golden mirror were chosen for wall covering. Different finishes are mixed, and complement each other favourably. The furniture was chosen from various styles and added value to the interior.

What are some of the functional aspects and rational thinking behind decisions like the room layout, choice of storage, and type of furniture and lighting that were made from a practical standpoint?

The main point in the process of working on the functionality of this project was the movement of the stairs to the entrance hall. Initially this was supposed to be located in the living room, so we expanded the living area and added storage space under the stairs in the entrance hall.

Apart from the project featured above, have you been involved in any other exciting projects over the past few years?

It is difficult to select only one project. We work on each one with passion and total immersion. Among our latest projects, we would select the project of a two-story cottage in Los Angeles. At the moment we have already completed its development and the project is under construction.

What were you interested in when you were a child and how did that lead you down the path to where you are now?

As a child, Iryna was passionate about drawing and had an interest in art in various techniques, constantly generating some new ideas in product and interior design. Vitaliy was obsessed with graffiti and street art. Based on our passion for art, we have created our team.

What design softwares do you use?

We use 3ds Max for the visualisations and AutoCAD for the working drawings development.

What are your favourite places to source new products and suppliers?

Our team regularly visits international object design, interior design and architecture exhibitions where we can see all the new furniture, lighting, finishing materials by the best brands and find appropriate suppliers, etc. in particular the annual exhibition iSaloni in Milan. Visiting the exhibition is always a good opportunity to learn something new, inspired and later use it into practice.

What is one of the most challenging aspects of your job?

Each new project is another story where we would like to experiment with styles and technique. We mix various materials, "playing" with shapes and volumes. But we are always guided by certain principles. It should be a comfortable living space. We create the projects from the heart, following our own feelings. Our Customers' satisfaction is our priority. We develop and extend our proficiency for them.

Are there any particular tools, methods or approaches you use to help with this particular challenge and how does it help?

It is important for us to combine the functionality and aesthetics. Each client has unique character and lifestyle, hobbies and habits. It is important for us to interact with him, to have a close relationship on every stage of work to create a space in which he will feel as comfortable and protected as possible. We have one common goal, and we achieve it working together.
